Finally, the date for the 2012 Opel Meet has been confirmed. In the year of Opel's 150th company anniversary, the 17th Opel Meet will take place June 7th – June 10th. And we're aiming high again. Despite this year's record-breaking 68,000 participants and 20,300 cars, there should be some records left to top in 2012. More details will follow soon.

“Opel-Treffen Part 2” – UK car tuning magazine “Total Vauxhall” chose a simple headline for the second part of the story about their Oschersleben trip. We're treated to six more pages with lots of great photos and one indisputable conclusion: The world's biggest Opel Meet truly is a “mammoth event”. And it looks like the Brits will be back in 2012, when you'll be joining us again to celebrate four days of Opel madness!
Again – we're sharing the second part of the story with you. Have a look, have a read and relive those amazing days from back in May.

The media coverage of the world's biggest Opel Meet doesn't seem to end. In the current issue, UK car tuning magazine “Total Vauxhall” treat us to a detailed and entertaining article about their “epic trip” to the Oschersleben Opel Meet. The Brits were seemingly impressed with the event, describing the festival as an “enormous show” and “massive”. For the “Total Vauxhall” team, this was a kind of discovery trip on which they uncovered the reason behind the international hype for the Oschersleben Opel Meet. They've come up with stunning photos and a festival diary in which you can read about the beautiful Miss Opel 2011, Currywurst sausage with chips and crazy car modifications. Part 2 of the Oschersleben story will feature in the next issue of “Total Vauxhall”.
We want to share the first part of the story with you. We're happy that the Brits are happy. Take a look.

Weeks ago, organizer Sven Glöckner half jokingly made it his primary goal to beat last year's numbers. It had been unclear for a long time, whether the 67,400 visitors and 19,900 Opels from 2010 could be topped at all, but the unexpected onrush of visitors on Saturday made the numbers climb just above last year's mark. So once again, with a grand total of 68,000 visitors and 20,300 cars, the alleged “Mission impossible” turned out to be an extraordinarily successful Opel weekend at the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena!
A big thank you to everyone who came!

Jochen Reich went down on his knees as he thanked the cheering crowd on Saturday evening, after the jury had elected him the winner of the Drift Challenge. There's no doubt that he knew best how to drift his 286 PS strong Commodore into the corners. Still, he had plenty of competitors not to be underestimated. Last year's winner Patrick Becker, above all, went up against pro drifter Jochen and was rewarded with second place at the end of the floodlit spectacle. Third place went to David Kallwitz, the winner of the Burnout Contest, with his Omega pimped into a “drift taxi”. Jochen Reich, who came to the Opel Meet with Opel tuning company Irmscher, received a trophy and can also look forward to a fantastic weekend for two in London. For next year, all that remains to say is: do it again, Jochen!

One can only try to describe the dimensions of the Oschersleben Opel Meet – the fringe events for the crowds' entertainment are simply too numerous. Let's try it anyway: This year, Harz Helicopter offered round trips high above the event area and gave many passengers the chance to see the Oschersleben Opel Town from an absolutely unique perspective. Unique perspectives of a different kind were offered by the sexy car wash girls, who impressively demonstrated that cleaning doesn't need to be boring. Concentrated horsepower paired with a skilful touch could be admired at the truck trial. And the really brave could go up 60 metres and back down in seconds. However: not everyone was able to cope with the perils of a bungee jump. More than once, the cage left the ground full and returned... full. Sorry, no jumps!

She brought the entire family, did a few rounds of the race track and signed countless autographs: singer and puppeteer Anna-Carina Woitschack – still a familiar face from DSDS (German Pop Idol) for many Opelians. Unsurprisingly, the 18-year old blonde, who also sat in the jury of the “Miss Opel” beauty contest, was a sought-after photo partner. The fans at the marquee went wild at Anna-Carina's performance – she surely knew how to get them going. Boxing world champion Robert Stieglitz also had a look around the ground and was visibly impressed by the atmosphere at the Motorsport Arena. But a stroll through the paddock wasn't enough for him – he wanted to see even the most remote camp sites. Together with an Arena assistant, he took a long ride around the event area – and was speechless for a moment.

A lot of smoke, a lot of rubber and an awful lot of applause: On Friday evening, the audience in the packed stand were treated to a first-rate Burnout Contest. Thirteen contestants tried their luck with hot drifts and wheel-stands on the specially set up area at the paddock. With their cars spinning wildly, they sure left their marks on the tarmac. The winning team was “Kalle quer” with David Kallwitz from Borken (photo). He really thrashed his white Opel Omega, much to the spectators' delight. Loud cheers were given to the first ever female contestant since the introduction of the Burnout Contest. Making her début, Madeleine “Enni” Kranig from Gerstungen gave her Omega all she got and came in second! Third on the podium – and already familiar to some Opel Meet veterans – were Andreas and Christoph Göhler, who entered with two cars: they'd turned two Corsa A's into one.

The jury have made their decision: Late on Friday evening, Vanessa Brandt from Großalsleben in Saxony-Anhalt was elected “Miss Opel 2011”. The 20-year old fitness instructor entered the contest as one of ten contestants and won the jury with her likeable nature, sex appeal and intelligence. Vanessa's big hobby is sports. Over the coming months, she will be representing the Opel brand at a number of important events. A calender shoot is also lined up. Vanessa's spot prize was a stainless steel exhaust sponsored by Friedrich Motorsport, worth several hundred Euros. Anna-Carina Woitschack of DSDS (German Pop Idol) fame and boxing world champion Robert Stieglitz were amongst the jury members.

It's up, up and away at this year's Oschersleben Opel Meet! Next to the MOTORPARK Academy, Harz Helicopter from Wernigerode have stationed themselves and the launching pad for their choppers. Anyone interested in lifting off can book a 10-minute round trip for up to three people. The passengers can choose the route themselves. The price depends on the number of passengers and the flight time. For more information, just drop by or call Jörg Gattermann at Harz Helikopter on 0171/4324855.

The Oschersleben Opel Meet is very family-oriented. In addition to the separate family camp site for Opel enthusiasts and their offspring, there'll also be a nursery. Between 10:00 and 18:00 on Friday and Saturday, trained nursery teachers will look after and entertain the little ones. Mum and Dad won't need to pay anything. The free childcare at the VIP lounge 28 has always been part of the services offered by the event organizers. The young Opelians need to be four years or older to visit the nursery.
Due to extensive construction work along the B246 in Oschersleben (Anderslebener Straße), there will be a small road diversion for anyone arriving from the A2. The relief road directly leads to WILO company via the approach road and thus runs almost parallel to the blocked Bundesstraße (main road). So there'll be no detours or delays. However, there are many corners and speed limits along this road, so please drive carefully. You'll also have to take this diversion route if you want to get into town (e.g. to go shopping or get petrol).

On May 21st, FC Schalke 04 and MSV Duisburg will compete for the DFB Cup at Berlin's Olympic Stadium, and you can watch the game live. We'll be showing the cup final on a big screen at the Jockel-Klein-Halle at the Motorsport Arena Hotel – a great event, not just for football fans, because, since the World Cup and European Cup, “public viewing” is more than just watching the game – it's a happening. Cheer on your team, bite your nails and analyse the game afterwards – this will be the cherry on the cake after an Opel-filled Saturday in Oschersleben. Doors open at 19:30, kick-off is at 20:00.

He's got a powerful punch, she's got a voice full of power: As this year's special guests, Anna-Carina Woitschack of DSDS (German Pop Idol) fame and boxing world champion Robert Stieglitz will pay a visit to the world's biggest car meet at Oschersleben and experience first hand the impressive atmosphere and the sea of flash bulbs. They will both be part of the jury of Friday night's “Miss Opel 2011 Beauty Contest”. And with her impressive voice, vocal talent Anna-Carina will surely get the crowd at the marquee I going. “I'm really looking forward to the Meet, because I drive a red Opel Corsa myself and I'm a huge fan,” the 18-year old singer told us in anticipation of the 20th of May. But whether or not the passionate puppeteer will bring along one of her favourite puppets, she wouldn't reveal...

The sound of the DTM Opel Astra V8 engine revving up will send a tingle down you're spine. But can you also imagine that warm fuzzy feeling in your stomach as 520 PS push you back into your seat or when the forces of physics test your courage every time you drive around a corner? Well, you can make just that experience at the Oschersleben Opel Meet because once again, Brenner Motorsport will be offering race taxi rides in their blazing red DTM Opel.
If you're interested in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, simply complete this booking form. And remember to carefully read and accept the Haftungsausschluss. Four letters – one partnership to rely on: EMMA, the European Mobile Media Association has been a regular part of the Oschersleben Opel meet for many years. There'll be action non-stop at the EMMA booth at the paddock as three renowned competitions alone will be held there. This year, EMMA and the organizers of the Opel meet will draw 12 wild-cards for the ESPL, Sound Quality and EMMA Racing contests! But expect more than just ear candy. An expert jury will consult the international rule books for these competitions to judge the contestants. What does that mean? All results will count towards the qualifications for the Germany final in Nuremberg. And who knows... You might be part of it.

Simply fill out and post the entry form. All entry forms will go into a lottery draw and the lucky winners will be notified by e-mail. Good luck!
1. ESPL: How loud does it go and has it been installed correctly?
2. Sound Quality: Does it really sound good and does it look the part?
3. EMMA Racing: It sounds good, it looks the part, it's loud, but what about the art of slalom driving?
You can apply on Friday from 10:00 to 14:00. The ESPL contest will start right after the application deadline, at 15:00. The Sound Quality and EMMA Racing competitions will start at 9:30 on Saturday morning. You'll find EMMA right next to the burnout area at the paddock.

This year will be a turbulent election year for Germany... but not nearly turbulent enough for us! We'll make our contribution towards the understanding of democracy by hosting the hottest election of the year at the Oschersleben Opel meet. In cooperation with Friedrich Motorsport, on May 20 we will again be appointing the First Lady of the Opel community. A photo shoot, a calendar production and a stainless steel exhaust sponsored by Friedrich Motorsport are in store for the winner of the title “Miss Opel 2011”.
Online applications for the “Miss Opel 2011” beauty contest will be accepted until May 5. Please include a short personal description as well as some convincing photos with your application. As the number of contestants is limited to 15, all applicants will go through an initial selection procedure. Before the new “Miss Opel” is announced at the main marquee, the contestants will have to compete in three events:
1. Individual introduction and short interview
2. Bikini competition (maximum of 10 contestants)
3. Final with go go dancing (3 finalists)
So, run for candidacy for the ultimate position within the Opel community! Apply now and become “Miss Opel 2011”!

The site tickets for the carting track and family campsite sold out really quickly! Like last year, many of you took advantage of the online advance bookings procedure on 1 March to get those desirable stickers for your windscreens. As there were unfortunately only a limited number of these pitches available, most of you will have to take a spot on one of the other many camping and stop-over areas in the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena. So no need to panic! When you arrive in Oschersleben, you just need to enquire at the organisers’ office and choose your personal favourite from the remaining available pitches. Everyone gets a space with us! We look forward to welcoming you in Oschersleben between 19th - 22th May!

B-Kadett are the specialists in rock classics. Whether they're playing the rock anthems by AC/DC, Deep Purple or ZZ Top, they're guaranteed to rock any party. So, who are the six guys, whose band name unmistakably connects them to the traditional Rüsselsheim brand? According to band members Harald, Ide, Ingo, Michi, Stefan and Thomas, they're from the days of chrome and rally stripes – the era of the B-Kadett. To them, this iconic car reflects their passion for good, hand-made rock!

After the firework display on Saturday evening, the marquee I stage will be set for B-Kadett. Joining them on his Flying V electric guitar will be OCP boss Volker Strycek – together they'll be playing their individual, driven, energetic sound. The six band members and special guest Volker Strycek have long been looking forward to this gig – full throttle and no braking guaranteed!
We hope to see you at the gig – to warm up, visit: www.bkadett.de

Like last year, site tickets for the karting track and family campsite can once again be reserved on this webpage from 1 March. The advance bookings procedure via our online order form has proved effective, and so we?re sticking with it for now. We?ve decided to retain the changes introduced last year. So the tickets will continue to be valid only for the person to whom they have been issued. That helps us ensure that the tickets can?t be sold at inflated prices on internet platforms. Furthermore, there?ll be the same deal as last year on a site ticket and hip fan t-shirt from the meet. So you pay €13 for a ticket and a shirt (people passes must be bought in addition!) ? an unbeatable bargain! Of course we?ll bring shirts for guys and girls in all available sizes with us to Oschersleben.
Please note:You are purchasing a site ticket only over the advance bookings system. You must also buy people passes! On arrival, the tickets will be exchanged for a sticker. Vehicles brought on a trailer also require a ticket; trailers and caravans do not.
Please note: sites have also been set aside on the carting track for helpers!

Your very own portaloo just for you and your friends? No problem. All you need to do is fill out the order form. We could negotiate good prices for this year with "Rent-a-i.O.-WC", the toilet-rental company. We've also relaxed the conditions for the interim cleaning, which you can now order directly from the driver of the rental company – prior registration is no longer needed. This extra service costs €17.85.
By the way, the portaloo-rental service has been a hit for the last two years. Many visitors appreciated the advantages of their very own Opel privy: it's lockable, you can clean it yourself and you won't have to walk for miles to the next public toilet facilities.
This service is made possible thanks to our partner, i.O. Toiletten- und Containervermietung. Hiring a plastic toilet cabin from Thursday to Sunday costs €95.20. If you want to hire one, just fill out this form.

Bored of cute fluffy animals, idyllic landscapes or granny's recipes? Finally, here's the alternative to the boring old wall calendars! The stunning 2011 Opel Meet wall calendar is out and can now be purchased online. The hot photos were taken at the 2010 Meet and have now been turned into this brilliant calendar – a great Christmas present and an absolute must-have for every Opel fan. At €16.90 each, you can give away as many as you like, or bagsy them all for yourself – the guaranteed collectors' value is gratis! To order, just follow this link.

Some of you already scratch with the hoofs - rightly! Now the waiting is over, because the dates for the 16-th issue of the world-biggest Opel meeting in the motor sport arena Oschersleben are fix!
The precise dates are from the 19th to the 22nd May in 2011. You have even more than half a year of time to do all necessary preparations for the biggest Opel bash of the world.
We likewise are into the first plannings already, because the Opel meeting in 2011 should top this year's record meeting once again. This certainly won’t be easy, but we are confidently. We want to announce the first details of the program highlights 2011 in December at this point. So stay tuned!

Expectations were high, the weather fantastic, and the result is absolute madness: with 67 400 fans we?ve never had as many Opel fans in Oschersleben!!! With 19 900 vehicles we also hit a new record. For four days you came together as a community of fans, and both the events programme and the weather joined in! There was non-stop sunshine from Tuesday onwards, and a never-ending programme to boot of tuning competitions, parties, music, fun, and action.
Shortly you will be able to find an extensive report here on the 15th Oschersleben Opel Meet. For now, here is a preliminary overview for you:
| Miss Opel 2010: | Melanie Palmer (24) from Lichtenstein / Saxony |
| Superfan 2010: | Klaus Heinritz (OPC-Klausi) from Altdorf / Nürnberg |
| Furthest journey: | Francisco Garcia-Fuentes from Spain (2679 km) |
| Biggest club: | Opel Scene Rohrbeck, 21 vehicles, 30 participants |
| Oldest vehicle: | Opel bicycle from 1935, Martin Klabes (Vockerode) |
| Participants from: | Benelux countries, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Hungary, Switzerland, Austria, England, Spain ? amongst others. |
Organizers Susan and Sven Glöckner and their team thank you for an unforgettable weekend in Oschersleben! Our thanks to the team at Live4u Radio, to the many helpers, to the team at the Motorsport Arena, to Rudi Füssel?s crew, to opelgarage.de, to the opelclub.at, to the club VW Passion, to the presenters, to the town of Oschersleben, to all traders and sponsors, to Markus Schenk, to the press, and to everyone we?ve unintentionally left out. Without you this mad meet would never have been possible! Like you, we?re looking forward to the Opel Meet 2011! Take care and have fun!

The search for the superfan was breathtaking. The response and the variety of applications was in itself so great, that really everyone might have deserved the title. But what did that old highlander say? There can only be one. And that is why the jury gave the title of ?Superfan? on Friday evening to Klaus Heinritz, alias OPC-Klausi. For 11 years the loyal Opelian from Altdorf near Nuremberg has not missed a single meet in the Motorsport Arena. He has all the stickers, programmes and entry tickets ? a historic collection! Furthermore, it was OPC-Klausi who suggested the event in December 2008! Organiser Sven Glöckner promised him back then that he would think up something in order to bring his great idea come to life. By his own account, OPC-Klausi has attended an incredible 150 Opel meets in the last 16 years! His precise mileage record says that he has only driven 6 777 km to Oschersleben ? in total he has notched up an incredible 52 834 km! He has driven four different cars to the Magdeburg Börde area, and as soon as the date was fixed he always applied for a week?s holiday. His motto: ?Even two broken legs can?t stop me!? That?s the spirit, dear Klaus!

But the jury gave another junior ?Superfan? prize. The 18 month-old Justin Danièl Schild from Coswig / Anhalt inherited Dad Mike?s Opel car gene. Justin?s Mum Anja entered the little tuning fan in the ?Superfan? event and had to admit that her little darling probably wasn?t going to become a ?gentleman? but a real mechanic with greasy hands. All the best, little Justin! It?s in the blood...

Melanie kicked ass! The petite brunette from Saxony is ?Miss Opel 2010?. Melanie Palmer from Lichtenstein will hold the sash and crown for the next twelve months. The 24 year-old triumphed over nine other contestants on Friday evening at the big party in Party Tent I. The trainee social pedagogue loves dancing, meeting friends, and of course Opel. Melanie convinced the jury, comprising of Manni and Uwe Ludolf and the current Miss Opel, Josephine Stirba, in all three rounds. Melanie has an exciting time ahead of her. She will not only appear at the Essen Motor Show, but will also get a page with the ?Superfan? in the new 2011 calendar for the Opel Meet.

One thing was confirmed on Manni and Uwe Ludolf?s arrival at the Opel Meet in the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena: they?re just like on TV! In their work trousers, checked shirts and hats, the two fun-loving lads were brilliantly at ease and down-to-earth as they greeted the crowd that had formed around them within seconds. Shouts of ?Manni!? and ?Uwe? could be heard over and again, and everybody was embraced, hugged and smooched (especially the ladies!), and everyone got a photo. ?Ah, the people are just great,? said Uwe in a quiet moment and in his typical dialect. ?We just need this hustle and bustle?. At the Opel Meet the two brothers from the scrap yard will elect ?Miss Opel? and then do lots for their fans: take photos and write autographs!

It?s madness. The 15th Opel Meet is already on track for a record! Already on the second day c. 45 000 Opelians had set up camp in the Arena. And the best thing is that today, Friday, the second wave of visitors is coming, while Saturday traditionally belongs to additional day visitors. That makes us want to see more, and gives us hope for record attendance numbers...

What?s going on here? The Motorsport Arena was stormed by Opel lovers on the first official day of the event! All dolled-up and shining brightly, Opelz formed a never-ending sea of metal (see photos), waiting patiently to be admitted to the event grounds. As ordered, the high-pressure belt ?Urs? provided plenty of sunshine, adding to Opel fans? anticipation from all over Europe. The organiser Sven Glöckner had quite a surprise on Monday: for the first time, fans had managed to get to Oschersleben before he did. ?They must have arrived on Sunday?, he said. ?I don?t think we?ve ever had that before.? The major roads around Oschersleben will remain firmly in the hands of the Rüsselheimers on Friday and Saturday, as people continue to arrive.
When planning your journey to Oschersleben you should bear the following in mind: due to a parallel event in the Motorsport Arena, not all campsite pitches will be available on Wednesday. This affects, amongst others, the family campsite and the carting track. When the meet officially opens ? on Thursday, at 8am ? all pitches will be available, without exception. If you do arrive on Wednesday, please follow the signs directing you along the paved road to the camping areas in the north of the Motorsport Arena.

After last year?s success, an event book will be available this year too for the Oschersleben Opel Meet. The team from www.AutoKlicker.de will be blending the impressions, photos and facts from your anniversary meet into their signature product! The 30-page book is published in July, but it can be ordered in advance from 6th June. Those quickest off the mark only pay ?20, later on it will cost ?24 ? there is no additional charge for delivery. Advance purchases can be made at the meet in the Motorsport Arena fan shop. Afterwards, you can easily order it online at www.autoklicker.de/eventbuch/ So: Get that book!

The party programme for the 15th Opel Meet is being reshuffled. On Saturday evening in Party Tent I the stage will now belong to the band ?Die Fetenkracher? instead of the great entertainer Willi Herren. This cult trio from the Ruhr region is closely linked to Opel, not least because of their shared provenance, and has made the party tents rock in the past with such popular hits as ?Wir haben ein Idol (Harald Juhnke)?. More information is available on www.die-fetenkracher.de.

Little ones are happiest with other little friends of the same age ? every child knows that! If they are well entertained and occupied as well, the pedagogic task has been fulfilled. We want to do our bit too, and are once again providing free, professional childcare at the Opel Meet. All Opelian-offspring over the age of four will be cared for and amused. The kindergarten is open Friday-Saturday, 10:00-18:00, and is located in the VIP lounge 28, directly above the pits.
